SPORTS PREMIUM is the Sports Premium?

The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. The government is spending over £450 million on this funding over the 3 academic years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and will be given directly to primary school head teachers.

Department for Education Vision for the Primary PE and Sports Premium All pupils leaving primary school should be physically literate and with knowledge skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

Objectives in spending Sports Premium: At Junction Farm Primary School we believe that high quality physical education makes a vital contribution to pupil’s physical development and wellbeing. We aim to provide a broad and balanced physical education curriculum, giving the children an opportunity to experience a range of physical activities and progress and achieve within them.

Summary of spending and actions taken: Gold Package Sports Partnership – participate in league/cluster/town and regional sports events including: Cross Country, Football, Cricket, Gymnastics, Tag Rugby, Athletics Transport to competitive fixtures, festivals, events, sports day at Middlesbrough Sports Village,; cricket, tag rugby, football, tennis, orienteering, PE Resources to facilitate outstanding teaching and coaches to provide children with additional physical development activities not currently provided within school.
Intended outcomes: The Governors and staff at Junction Farm are committed to ensuring that the Sports Premium funding has a measurable and lasting impact on the quality of PE & sports, play opportunities and extracurricular activities

We will continue to compete in the level 2 competitions. Children will become more competitive and have more experience competing and we would be looking to qualify through to Level 3 competitions

Coach Travel £495 All children To enable children to attend cluster festivals and sporting events. Children will have more experience at competing. I would expect to see that we move through to level 3 competitions.
PE Equipment £14 All children New equipment has been purchased for use during PE lessons, after school clubs and school sports day.

 

Staff will be able to offer a more diverse range of activities and higher quality P.E lessons.
Track hire for Sports Day £425 All children To enable children to experience competing at a large sporting venue and experience competing and taking part in sport activities. Children enjoy the day and it will motivate children to take part in sport meaning healthier children and more able children in P.E
Travel to sports day £720 All children To enable children to experience competing at a large sporting venue and experience competing and taking part in sport activities. Children enjoy the day and it will motivate children to take part in sport meaning healthier children and more able children in P.E
Medals for sports day £320 All children Children receive a medal if they come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place meaning they are competing for something and are getting the recognition. Children will like receiving the medal and will want to compete in further competitions.
Freddy Fit £389 All children  

 

Children receive good quality health and fitness sessions

 

Children will enjoy taking part and this will motivate them to take part in more sporting activities.

Sports Teacher £4000 All children High quality P.E lessons All children will receive higher quality lessons so skill level will develop.

Hockey equipment £66 All KS2 To have better quality P.E equipment to play hockey with. The equipment will last longer as they are better quality and children are using the correct equipment so the sport level will improve.

£141.95 All Children To allow all children to take part in competitive sports in teams. To include more level one competitions so all children are taking part.

Trophies £26.99 All children Children will be motivated to receive the trophy each half term. Children will work harder in sport and therefore we should see better results.
Netball Court Markings £124 All children Children will be able to play the correct rules and learn the markings of the court. Children will achieve higher as they are more aware of the court.
Sports week £700 KS2 Children will access a range of different sports. Children may enjoy the activities and want to join clubs.
Middlesbrough Sports Village (rent) £472.50 All children (except reception) Children will have the experience of competing on a proper athletics track. Children will try to perform better and may join an athletics club.
